About the position

HumanHire has partnered with a prestigious Am Law Top 300 firm in NYC to find a Payroll Manager to join their growing team! The Payroll Manager will oversee all payroll functions, including policy development, system management, and day-to-day administration. This role is crucial in ensuring that payroll processes are efficient, compliant, and accurate, contributing to the overall financial health of the firm. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for managing various payroll types, including exempt, non-exempt, reimbursement, and 1099 payrolls. Additionally, the role involves researching and implementing efficient payroll systems to streamline operations, ensuring that the firm remains at the forefront of payroll technology and practices. The Payroll Manager will also maintain a positive relationship with the external payroll provider (ADP) and manage the transition of partner payroll to ADP, establishing a tracking system to ensure smooth operations. Compliance is a key aspect of this role, as the Payroll Manager will ensure adherence to payroll laws, regulations, and tax updates. Data integrity is paramount, and the Payroll Manager will maintain accurate payroll data while implementing controls to prevent errors and fraud. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Payroll Manager will supervise the Senior Payroll Administrator, providing training and fostering professional development within the team. This role requires cross-functional collaboration, working closely with HR, benefits, finance, and IT departments to ensure smooth payroll processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a focus on process improvement. Responsibilities

  • Oversee and process all payroll types (exempt, non-exempt, reimbursement, 1099)
  • Research and implement efficient payroll systems to streamline operations
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the external payroll provider (ADP)
  • Manage the transition of partner payroll to ADP and establish a tracking system
  • Ensure compliance with payroll laws, regulations, and tax updates

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • At least 10 years of progressive payroll experience, including supervisory roles
  • Expertise in ADP and Workforce Now
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, both internally and externally
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on process improvement
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
