About the position

The Payroll Manager at 9Dot Education Solutions is responsible for overseeing the payroll team and ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for multiple companies across various states. This role involves managing payroll operations, compliance with regulations, and providing guidance to payroll staff. The Payroll Manager will also collaborate with other departments to ensure proper payroll accounting and reporting, while promoting a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the payroll team in preparation, issuance, and distribution of bi-weekly paychecks for all employees.
  • Coordinate training of new payroll team members and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll data into the Workday system.
  • Establish and maintain detailed automated permanent employee records and ensure timely updates of employee changes.
  • Review wage computations, correct errors, and make necessary adjustments to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Proof employee data in Workday and complete new hire information, reviewing changes in existing employee information as needed.
  • Reconcile and research discrepancies in payroll reports, such as Personal Time Off accruals and retirement contributions.
  • Coordinate issuance of incentive payments based on instructional submissions of incentive spreadsheets.
  • Interface with the accounting department to ensure proper budgetary allocation of payroll costs.
  • Assist with resolution of payroll-related issues and changes to company policies regarding payroll and benefits.
  • Oversee year-end payroll functions and prepare documentation for audits and governmental inquiries.
  • Prepare various payroll-related correspondence, memos, spreadsheets, and reports as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • At least 6 years of experience processing payroll required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, direct, delegate, and motivate staff.
  • Knowledge of state and federal wage and hour laws and withholding requirements.
  • Proficient knowledge of payroll systems, especially Workday.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, and Google Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and business contacts.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPP Certification preferred.
  • Experience in a complex multi-company, multi-department, and multi-state organization.
