Johnsonville products are enjoyed in 45 countries and served in 130 sports stadiums throughout the U.S. We currently have an opportunity for a detail-oriented, proactive, problem-solving leader, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, to join our Finance Shared Services team in the position of Manager Payroll. As the Manager Payroll, you will have an opportunity to showcase your commitment to providing excellent customer service, continuous learning, and improving processes along with coaching and developing the Payroll Team. This role involves leading the Payroll (Domestic and Global) Team and managing all functions related to payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, tax filings, and compliance with government regulations. You will also be responsible for developing team members, recruiting top talent, and minimizing risk through internal controls and oversight. In this position, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, lead projects, and support strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions. You will also play a key role in the month-end close process, manage third-party vendor relationships, and represent the functional area during various audits. This is a full-time, salaried position with an opportunity for a hybrid schedule, based at our Global Sausage Headquarters in Sheboygan Falls, WI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Payroll (Domestic and Global) Team and manage all functions related to payroll.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and tax filings.
  • Calculate and submit garnishments and other deductions.
  • Manage expat payrolls and foreign/domestic relocation expenses.
  • Develop team members through 1:1 sessions and cross-training.
  • Recruit and retain top Payroll talent and evaluate team performance.
  • Minimize risk and protect company assets through internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Lead projects and strategic initiatives with cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee system testing for upgrades and implementations.
  • Participate in networking groups and act as a payroll subject matter expert.
  • Oversee accruals, journal entries, reconciliations for month-end close.
  • Administer the monthly Great Performance Share bonus program.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Represent the functional area for various audits and prepare data.
  • Develop and manage departmental budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or a minimum of 10 years payroll experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading and developing a payroll team required.
  • Multi-state and local tax experience required.
  • Experience with global payrolls required (Southeast Asia a plus).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certification is highly desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP ERP Finance, SAP HR/PR and SuccessFactors modules is a plus.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
