About the position

Graco manufactures and markets premium equipment to move, measure, control, dispense, and spray a wide variety of fluid and powder materials. The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the organization's payroll processing. This includes ensuring accurate and timely payroll calculations, tax reporting, and compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws. The Payroll Manager will also be responsible for maintaining payroll records, reconciling payroll accounts, and providing support to employees and management regarding payroll-related inquiries. This position will guide and perform the day-to-day workload of the department and ensure resources are devoted to the necessary priorities while driving key continuous improvement projects not only as the incumbent in this role but as directed by Graco senior leadership. The Payroll Manager provides deep oversight of payroll systems, processes, policies, and personnel within Graco payroll. They support the preparation of weekly, semi-monthly, and off-cycle payroll by validating hours, earnings, and deductions. The role involves managing quarterly and annual reviews of payroll tax deposits including SUI, Fed, State, Local withholdings and filings such as W-2, 940, 941, etc. The Payroll Manager must have advanced garnishment system knowledge for managing system updates and enhancements, including system testing. They will follow recordkeeping requirements under FLSA and IRS regulations and serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex payroll inquiries. Additionally, the Payroll Manager works with and supports HR in resolving basic and complex employee payroll questions and issues, educates employees and managers on payroll processes and controls, and identifies and drives continuous improvement opportunities within payroll. They are responsible for the supervision, onboarding, training, hiring, and coaching of the payroll team, and will take on extra responsibilities such as problem resolution as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, onboard, train, hire, and coach the payroll team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • CPP or FPC preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years payroll processing experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Advanced multi-state payroll tax knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
