About the position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Payroll Manager to join our team at Southern Welding. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of payroll for our diverse workforce, which includes our sister companies. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of hands-on payroll experience and leadership skills, acting both as a player and a coach. As we transition to more automated systems, this role will be crucial in streamlining and improving our payroll processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the complete payroll process for 400-600+ employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
• Manage time tracking systems, ensuring that time logged against jobs in the field is accurately recorded and reported.
• Utilize and optimize Paychex payroll software to streamline and automate payroll processes.
• Lead, mentor, and coach the payroll team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Work closely with IT and other departments to implement and improve automated payroll systems.
• Prepare and analyze payroll reports, providing insights and recommendations to management.
• Address and resolve payroll-related issues and inquiries from employees and contractors.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in payroll operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field AND/OR minimum of 5 years of payroll management experience, preferably in a similar industry.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus.
• Paychex experience is a plus.
