About the position

Frenchette group is seeking a dedicated Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations across its various locations. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate processing of payrolls and managing all payroll-related activities. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for liaising with restaurant management teams and the leadership team to ensure that payrolls are accurate and submitted in a timely manner. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, extreme accuracy, and strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills. The Payroll Manager will serve as the primary administrator for the payroll system, which includes setting up and implementing payroll system features, maintaining up-to-date employee information, user profiles, and system coding for earnings, taxes, and deductions. The role also involves balancing hours and dollars from POS systems, verifying tip sheet and time clock data, and reconciling periodic tax filings and earnings records, including 941s and W-2s. Additionally, the Payroll Manager will oversee onboarding processes, ensuring that new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and direct deposits are processed promptly. In this position, the Payroll Manager will troubleshoot any payroll and benefits-related issues with ADP/Toast and monitor benefit enrollment eligibility. They will assist the Director of Personnel during the open enrollment process and ensure that benefit deductions are accurate. The role also includes monitoring COBRA and Affordable Care Act data on ADP for the production of accurate 1095-Cs and EEO reporting. The Payroll Manager will respond to state and federal correspondence, including unemployment notices and wage verification requests, and create reports as needed. This position requires a proactive approach to assist team members with payroll-related questions and to support management in onboarding new employees.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise between restaurant management teams and leadership team for payroll and related items, ensuring all payrolls are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Serve as primary administrator for payroll system responsibilities, including setup and implementation of payroll system features, maintaining up-to-date employee information, user profiles, and system coding for earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Balance hours and dollars from POS systems.
  • Verify tip sheet/time clock data are accurate and included on each payroll.
  • Reconcile periodic tax filings and earnings records, including 941s, W-2s, etc., and prepare payroll-related schedules for tax returns.
  • Oversee onboarding processes, ensuring New Hires, Terminations, Pay Rate or Position Changes, Direct Deposits, and all other miscellaneous payroll changes are processed in a timely manner.
  • Verify and ensure vacation/sick pay eligibility and accruals are accurate.
  • Troubleshoot with ADP/Toast concerning any payroll and benefits-related issues.
  • Work with ADP/Toast on setting up and monitoring policies or legal requirements such as sick pay policies, tip credits, and overtime for hourly employee policies.
  • Monitor benefit enrollment eligibility and enrollment, assist Director of Personnel in the open enrollment process, and ensure benefit deductions are accurate, verifying insurance invoices for accuracy.
  • Monitor COBRA and Affordable Care Act data on ADP for production of accurate 1095-Cs and EEO reporting.
  • Respond to and fill out state, federal, formal correspondence and requests including unemployment notices and requests for hours and wage verification, wage garnishments, child support, employee verification letters, disability claims, etc.
  • Create reports and work on projects as requested, preparing weekly, quarterly, and yearly reports.
  • Assist team members with any payroll-related questions and assist management in onboarding new employees when necessary.
  • Review and abide by company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of payroll management experience, preferably in a multi-location environment.
  • Understanding and knowledge of New York City compliance.
  • Experience processing hospitality payroll for large organizations with multiple locations.
  • Experience and proficiency with ADP Payroll Processing system.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Flexible, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work independently to prioritize and successfully complete multiple tasks without missing deadlines and with discretion.
