About the position

The Payroll Manager at Tarrant County College is responsible for overseeing the District's payroll function, ensuring compliance with college policies and federal and state laws. This role involves managing payroll processes, leading a team, and implementing effective payroll procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage the District's payroll function and ensure compliance with policies and laws.
• Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
• Research and recommend effective payroll procedures.
• Prepare, review, and process payroll, posting to all general ledger accounts.
• Resolve payroll-related problems and conduct necessary research.
• Generate reports and prepare payments for retirement funds, garnishments, benefit premiums, taxes, and other payroll liabilities.
• Close payroll records each quarter and oversee preparation and submission of W-2 and other filings.
• Develop and implement District payroll schedules and calendars.
• Provide leadership for all payroll functions and manage personnel evaluation and development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
• One (1) year of experience supervising staff.
• Three (3) years of working experience related to payroll management.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
• Experience with in-house payroll processing for over 1,000 employees using a computerized automated payroll system.
• Experience in a large, multi-campus college environment.
• Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
• Experience in ERP implementation.
