About the position

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of union payroll processing for our organization. This role is crucial in ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll systems, union reporting, and compliance, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for all employees.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of payroll data with the general ledger to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including timely filing of payroll taxes.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to maintain employee records and ensure accurate data entry for new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
  • Utilize payroll software such as Kronos and ADP to process payroll efficiently.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll processes to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare reports related to payroll metrics, including labor costs and tax liabilities for management review.
  • Assist in accounts payable functions as needed, ensuring proper allocation of expenses related to payroll.
  • Support corporate accounting initiatives through account reconciliation processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Manager or similar role within corporate accounting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with general ledger reconciliation processes and accounts payable functions.
  • Understanding of tax regulations related to payroll processing.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments within the organization.

  • Experience in union payroll processing is a plus.
  • Ability to commute to Islip, NY 11751 is required.
  • Willingness to relocate to Islip, NY 11751 before starting work is preferred.
