About the position

A successful local company is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee a team of 15 Payroll Specialists within our office. This is a full-time, in-office position with a Monday through Friday 8a-5p schedule (flexibility on payroll processing days is required) and competitive compensation with weekly pay. The Payroll Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that payroll is processed accurately, compliantly, and in a timely manner on a weekly basis. This position requires a strong leader who can manage the payroll workload to meet operational requirements and ensure compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements. The Payroll Manager will also be responsible for compiling data from the Payroll System and preparing relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports. Additionally, the role involves reviewing and improving payroll policies and procedures, maintaining payroll information and records in accordance with statutory requirements, and supporting internal and external audits related to payroll and billing. Performance management and development of payroll and billing staff will also be a key responsibility, along with reviewing contracts, agreements, and purchase orders related to processing contractor payroll and client invoicing. The Payroll Manager will need to research and resolve pay and billing discrepancies as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of payroll and billing staff.
  • Manage Payroll workload to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner on a weekly basis.
  • Direct payroll related documents to appropriate staff.
  • Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements.
  • Compile data from Payroll System.
  • Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
  • Review and improve payroll policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll and billing.
  • Performance manage and develop payroll and billing staff.
  • Review contracts, agreements, and purchase orders as it relates to processing contractor payroll and client invoicing.
  • Research and resolve pay and billing discrepancies.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of multi-state payroll experience and management experience.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to oversee a team of 15+ payroll and billing staff.
  • Strong skills in MS Office, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be process oriented with strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Must be a self-starter who can prioritize tasks and manage deadlines.
