UW Medicine Faculty Practice Plan Services (FPPS) has an outstanding opportunity for a Payroll Manager. This position is responsible for the overall management and direction of the payroll department, including all supervisory activities associated with three direct reports. The Payroll Manager will be involved in interviewing, hiring, training, and performance monitoring of staff, which includes progressive discipline and termination when necessary. The role requires the development of department policies, procedures, and workflows, as well as coordinating staff schedules and assigning work. The Payroll Manager will also be responsible for writing and delivering annual performance evaluations and conducting team meetings to ensure effective communication and coverage for open positions. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Payroll Manager will review the detailed work of other employees within the Finance Department related to payroll. This includes the implementation and preparation of payroll reports and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting according to applicable employment tax laws and regulations, such as IRS Form 941, state unemployment tax, and L&I reporting. The Payroll Manager will identify and resolve payor-specific coding issues and provide feedback to the Coding and Charge Capture team as appropriate. Furthermore, the role involves assessing internal controls, conducting risk assessments, and establishing internal controls for payroll operations. The Payroll Manager will create, maintain, and communicate payroll process documents, policies, and procedures, while evaluating current payroll operations and recommending process improvements. This position will also assist with the annual pension and financial audits and the preparation of Form 990 compensation and benefit information. Additionally, the Payroll Manager will oversee ADP payroll system maintenance and upgrades, ensuring that the payroll system is functioning optimally to meet the needs of the organization.
