The Payroll Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the property by ensuring the accurate processing of payroll data. This position involves entering payroll data into the computer system, auditing payroll records, and maintaining files to produce accurate payroll period reports in accordance with hotel standards. The Payroll Manager engages in ongoing auditing activities to verify the accuracy of payroll records and information, and when necessary, provides information to other departments regarding payroll-related issues and questions. This role requires a high level of confidentiality and attention to detail, as it involves handling sensitive employee information. In addition to managing payroll tasks, the Payroll Manager is responsible for maintaining knowledge of all payroll policies and procedures, as well as the computer systems and manual procedures used for payroll functions. The manager will set up and organize their workstation with designated supplies and resource materials, responding to employee inquiries regarding paychecks according to department procedures. The role also includes entering new employee records into the payroll system, reviewing personnel action forms for completeness and accuracy, and resolving discrepancies with Human Resources. The Payroll Manager will also handle various payroll-related tasks such as maintaining vacation accrual and sick pay records, processing authorized manual checks, and ensuring the security of all unused checks. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively, as well as the capability to provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and payroll policies. Additionally, the Payroll Manager is expected to promote positive guest relations and handle guest inquiries and complaints effectively, ensuring guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
