We are in search of a Payroll Manager in Dearborn, Michigan. The position entails overseeing the payroll system, with duties spanning across ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, working with IT for system modifications, and providing recommendations for business issues. This role is also responsible for collaborating with various teams for process improvement initiatives and maintaining payroll records. The Payroll Manager will oversee the functioning of the in-house payroll system to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations. This includes coordinating with IT to modify and adapt payroll system programming, processing methods, and reporting to adapt to changes in regulations, withholding rates, and company changes. In addition, the Payroll Manager will provide recommendations for business issues by assisting in defining, analyzing, configuring, and testing different processes and application solutions. The role requires collaboration with business resources to identify and develop process improvement initiatives, as well as responding to inquiries and maintaining regular communication with internal customers. The Payroll Manager will direct and monitor the performance of the payroll team, manage payroll information by directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data, and prepare reports for management on a periodic and ad hoc basis. The position also involves performing various journal entries, account reconciliations, and providing general ledger support. Ensuring proper calculation of payroll liabilities is crucial, which includes approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and payroll taxes. The Payroll Manager will set up new employee information accounts, balance payroll accounts by resolving discrepancies, and adhere to and support internal company policies while maintaining employee privacy and protecting payroll operations by keeping information confidential. Additionally, the role requires managing year-end, quarterly, and monthly payroll processes, ensuring timely completion of all payroll tax reporting requirements, and responding to all payroll audit requests. The Payroll Manager will also utilize the timekeeping report system to check the accuracy of payroll processing.
