About the position

We are searching for a Payroll Manager to join our team located in Lakeland, Florida. This role involves overseeing payroll operations for our client that spans across multiple states. The Payroll Manager will be tasked with ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing, managing vendor relationships, and continuously evaluating and improving payroll processes and systems. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in a payroll management role and have proven experience in handling full cycle payroll processing. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as a detail-oriented approach with a high degree of accuracy. The Payroll Manager will also be responsible for maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and staying updated with laws and regulations related to payroll. In this role, you will lead the payroll team, fostering a positive culture and driving departmental growth. You will oversee the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll, including payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, and benefits in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Utilizing the payroll platform for weekly payroll, you will provide configuration support related to payroll processes. Additionally, you will prepare reports summarizing payroll-related expenditures and balance payroll registers to W-2 on a quarterly and annual basis. As part of your responsibilities, you will assist in complex payroll calculations or situations as needed, manage relationships with vendors related to payroll processing, and recommend changes to policies and procedures as required. Continually evaluating payroll processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness will be key aspects of your role. You will also administer established policies and procedures while influencing departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a payroll management role.
  • Proven experience in handling full cycle payroll processing.
  • Ability to manage multi-state payroll processing.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
