About the position

ArcBest is seeking a Payroll Operations Coordinator III to join our team in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This role is crucial in processing wage payments, deductions, garnishments, and child support through the Workday payroll system. The Payroll Operations Coordinator III will face daily challenges due to the time-sensitive nature of payroll processing, which includes managing various payroll schedules, taxes, and deductions. The position requires a keen analytical eye to balance and control earnings and deduction totals, ensuring that time and attendance entries across the organization are processed timely for payroll and monthly accruals. Flexibility is essential, especially around payroll holiday schedules, to meet the demands of the role. In this position, you will be responsible for processing new hires, wage increases, job classification changes, tax withholdings, and terminations within the Workday payroll system. You will also assist in the development and testing of Workday processes, administer payroll processing and audits, and manage the Workday time and attendance systems. Your duties will include mailing and distributing payrolls, reviewing timecard entries for hourly employees, issuing off-cycle manual checks, operating payroll controls and audits, and reconciling payroll accounts. Additionally, you will assist various departments with payroll-related inquiries, maintain confidential information, and perform regular audits of payroll hours and earnings. Collaboration with Human Resources will be key, particularly regarding employees' Paid Time Off plans. You will also be responsible for processing wage garnishments, tax levies, and child support income withholding orders. Managing special projects will involve preparing and maintaining project plans, addressing challenges, and ensuring project tasks are completed efficiently. Analyzing, preparing, auditing, and inputting payroll data, as well as assisting with car allowance and mobile device allowance programs, will also be part of your responsibilities. Other duties and projects may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
  • Two years' experience in ArcBest Payroll or similar job function.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and 10-Key, required.
  • Experience in Workday environment or comparable HCM platform.
