About the position

The Payroll Operations Manager for US & Canada at Takeda is a critical role within the Global Finance function, responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll operations processing. This position involves ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees across multiple legal entities in the US and Canada, while also driving efficiencies and process improvements. The role requires collaboration with various departments to deliver quality services and resolve operational issues, as well as managing a team of payroll staff and staying informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of payroll operations processing, including ADP payroll BAU process deployment.
  • Direct the actions of the payroll operations team and ensure all tasks are accomplished to meet company objectives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all Takeda employees in the US, PR, and Canada.
  • Monitor payroll equity transactions and assignee mobility payments to ensure accurate payment and recording.
  • Manage operations and service delivery to provide effective payroll services.
  • Maintain internal controls relating to payroll practices and monitor them continuously.
  • Develop, implement, and update payroll procedures to comply with corporate policies and regulations.
  • Conceive and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and satisfaction with payroll services.
  • Coordinate with other departments within the People Solutions team to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Participate in cross-departmental groups to implement or improve payroll programs and services.
  • Manage resources to identify and develop solutions to complex payroll issues.
  • Lead and manage the payroll operations department, including hiring, training, and performance management of staff.
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll laws and ensure compliance with tax laws.
  • Manage relationships with payroll service providers and external partners.
  • Monitor payroll processes for efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports, metrics, and KPIs to monitor performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 7+ years of experience in payroll in a supervisory or manager role.
  • Experience with large payroll (10+ employees in the US).
  • US and Canada payroll processing experience.
  • Skills in process analysis, assessment, and improvement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred, but not required.
