About the position

The Payroll Project Manager role involves a combination of project management and business analysis, focusing on the transition of payroll vendors to new strategic suppliers while ensuring compliance standards are met. The position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work under tight timelines, and effective communication with global team members. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll and project management, with a self-starting attitude and the capability to manage complex tasks independently.

Responsibilities

  • Manages multi-faceted projects or multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Organizes new challenges and drives business results.
  • Uses best practice PMO methodology to create project plans that fit stakeholders' needs and deliver within budget.
  • Drives end results of the project as a representative of the business.
  • Works closely with End Users, Technology, and other organizations to define project scope and objectives.
  • Prepares, maintains, and submits clear and concise activity/progress reports and time management reports.
  • Assesses project risk potentials and discovers potential problems before they occur.
  • Tracks project participant progress against project goals proactively.
  • Defines and enforces good project management practices, documenting and controlling tasks and sub-tasks.
  • Identifies and amends approaches based on project context and constraints.
  • Recognizes and articulates problems, bringing the right people together to solve them.
  • Communicates project milestones, status updates, and escalation issues to all concerned parties.
  • Follows escalation and change control processes proactively.
  • Owns all management reports on a given engagement.
  • Promotes good working relationships across the project, cultivating trust and communication among stakeholders.
  • Assesses risk when making business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of project management experience, preferably in a financial services environment.
  • PMP certification strongly preferred; Six Sigma is a plus.
  • Ability to develop project plans and manage individual deadlines and goals.
  • Knowledge of project metrics, including gathering, reporting, trend analysis, and creation.
  • Ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions, and choose appropriate alternatives using root cause analysis.
  • Manage project scope by assessing requirement changes and their impact on budget, time, and risk.
  • Manage client expectations and track operational and tactical risks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
  • Experience with payroll processes and systems.
  • Familiarity with Workday for data management and reporting.
