About the position

At Insitu, a Boeing company, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist 1 to join our payroll team. This role is essential in supporting the payroll operations and ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our employees. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for preparing routine company payroll, reviewing and validating timesheets, and managing routine employee status changes. Additionally, the specialist will assist in reconciling discrepancies and auditing payroll processes to ensure compliance with company policies and federal regulations. The Payroll Specialist will also coordinate with system programmers to resolve any payroll system issues and prepare responses to external auditing and regulatory inquiries. This role may involve manual calculations of wages for temporary work, bonuses, vacations, terminations, and other special payroll requirements. The specialist will ensure that payroll reporting and payments comply with generally accepted accounting principles, federal, state, and IRS regulations, and will mark records for retention as necessary. This position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work location. However, candidates local to Bingen, WA, have the option to work onsite. Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing routine company payroll.
  • Review and validate timesheets and routine employee status changes.
  • Assist in reconciling discrepancies in payroll processing.
  • Audit, reconcile, and resolve straightforward payroll processing issues.
  • Prepare responses to routine employee payroll inquiries.
  • Coordinate with system programmers to resolve payroll system issues.
  • Prepare responses to external auditing and regulatory inquiries.
  • Assist in manual calculation of wages for temporary work, bonuses, vacations, terminations, and special payroll requirements.
  • Verify payroll reporting and payments for compliance with company policy and regulations.
  • Mark records for retention.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of implementing, maintaining, and documenting effective internal controls and processes.
  • Ability to identify and resolve accounting system issues.
  • Ability to support internal/external auditors and assist with implementation and problem resolution.
  • Knowledge of tax laws and codes.
