About the position

The Payroll Specialist 2 at LinkedIn is responsible for managing and processing payroll for employees in the US and Canada, ensuring compliance with labor laws and internal policies. This role involves handling various payroll-related tasks, including bi-weekly payroll processing, managing taxable benefits, and maintaining accurate payroll records. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to resolve payroll queries and improve processes, all while providing exceptional support to LinkedIn employees and business groups.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate preparation and processing of bi-weekly US and Canada payroll.
  • Process taxable benefits such as gifts and transit commuter programs.
  • Handle stock-based compensation transactions and assist in ESPP stock purchase and enrollment.
  • Audit and post 401(k) contributions and demographic files to Fidelity.
  • Process multi-state bi-weekly payroll for over 11,000+ employees.
  • Calculate and reconcile termination payments according to state regulations.
  • Ensure employee information is properly updated in the payroll system via Workday integration.
  • Advocate for compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Develop and write ad hoc reports pertinent to internal and agency requirements.
  • Assist in identifying process improvements to ease day-to-day payroll activities.
  • Liaise with ADP, Talent Services, and Payroll Operations teams to identify open cases and ensure timely resolution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of US and Canada labor laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in MS Excel including advanced formula functions (Vlookups, Pivot tables, IF statements).
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel), ADP Global, ADP Smart Compliance, Workday, Service Now, Pro-Business, R&R, Report Writer and various payroll software.
  • Strong understanding of payroll and tax withholding compliance obligations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • FPC or CPP certification is a plus.
  • Experience in international/expat payrolls and equity compensation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently but also flexible working with a team.
