About the position

The Payroll Specialist/Analyst is responsible for overseeing payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payment to team members, and maintaining data integrity within HRIS systems. This role involves complex problem-solving, process improvement, and mentoring HR Specialists. The incumbent will manage various payroll-related activities, including garnishments, audits, and compliance with federal regulations, while also serving as a backup for the Safe Act Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and performs daily payroll operational activities, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
  • Balances payroll to the general ledger and resolves any discrepancies.
  • Processes garnishments and performs related accounting activities.
  • Supports IRS inquiries through coordination with ADP.
  • Coordinates ad hoc payroll runs and out-of-sequence payrolls as needed.
  • Processes Payroll RPDE batches for various payments and updates.
  • Audits, validates, and corrects data within HRIS systems to maintain integrity.
  • Monitors HRIS data feeds for accuracy and corrects errors as needed.
  • Oversees the time and attendance system, auditing and approving timecards before payroll processing.
  • Responds to inquiries from HR Managers and team members regarding payroll and HR processes.
  • Coordinates irregular payments and manages the administration of the ESPP payments.
  • Handles Leave of Absence pay administration in partnership with ADP.
  • Manages garnishment activities and coordinates with relevant departments.
  • Acts as a backup to the Safe Act Coordinator, ensuring compliance with NMLS requirements.
  • Manages various accounting activities related to Payroll and Benefits.
  • Maintains records in accordance with retention requirements and internal policies.
  • Mentors fellow team members and may lead special projects.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven years of payroll work experience.
  • Supervisory experience or ability to lead others effectively.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and HR business processes.
  • Strong decision-making skills based on analysis and judgment.
  • Attention to detail and strong auditing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with HR reporting and proficiency in MS Excel and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ADP Enterprise, eTime, and Virtual Edge.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
