About the position

First Choice In-Home Care is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist/Bookkeeper to work from our Renton corporate headquarters. The Payroll Specialist/Bookkeeper position is an integral part of our administrative team and works closely with our Finance Manager and Vice President of Finance, managing accounts payable/receivable and payroll functions. First Choice is licensed by the Washington State DOH and contracted with DSHS to provide non-medical, in-home, personal care services to our population of developmentally disabled children & adults, individuals with mental health disorders, veterans and aging & elderly individuals. We provide services to both State funded (Medicaid) and Private clients living in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. We are an established and still growing In-Home Care Agency, managing the care of over 2,600 individuals vulnerable children and adults, employing over 1,600 Direct Care and Administrative staff and are now hiring qualified, passionate and motivated staff members into our King County Payroll Department. The Payroll Specialist/Bookkeeper will develop, modify, and maintain departmental systems and records for payroll processing, perform internal audits, and act as the first point of contact for employees with payroll-related requests. This role will also manage employee timekeeping and reporting, monitor employee overtime and windshield time, and ensure that client service authorizations do not exceed available funding. The position requires attendance at weekly department meetings and coordination with the Human Resources Department, Client Services Department, and Fiscal Department. The ideal candidate will utilize proactive and creative problem-solving methods to address issues and will have the ability to prioritize teamwork and contribute to pressing needs outside of dedicated assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and maintain departmental system and records for payroll processing
  • Perform internal audits
  • Act as the first point of contact for employees with Payroll related requests
  • Manage Employee Time Keeping and Reporting
  • Monitor employee Overtime and Windshield Time
  • Monitor Client Service authorization and ensure services do not exceed available funding

  • Complete administrative reports as needed and within stated deadline
  • Utilize proactive and creative problem solving methods to address issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree preferred with emphasis in Business, Finance, Accounting - all majors eligible
  • Individuals with relevant prior experience are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Experience working or volunteering with disabled and/or vulnerable children, adults, and seniors is a plus
  • Ability to problem solve and to pro-actively seek solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to identify, diagnose and resolve items relevant to department
  • Previous supervisory/management experience is a plus
