About the position

As a Payroll Specialist at Vaco, you will play a crucial role in managing the payroll processes for both internal companies and Professional Employer Organization (PEO) clients. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of biweekly payroll processing, which includes handling new employee paperwork, maintaining employee deductions, and processing changes and terminations. You will also be responsible for entering court-ordered deductions and processing payroll and tax documents for multiple clients, adhering to specific schedules. Your expertise will be essential in calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions for various employee types, as well as reviewing and reconciling payroll discrepancies. Additionally, you will handle adjustments, corrections, and special payroll runs, and process benefit reports and monthly workers' compensation reports. In this role, you will utilize payroll software for processing and reporting, troubleshoot system issues, and collaborate on improvements to enhance efficiency. You will generate and distribute detailed payroll reports, analyze payroll data for trends and improvements, and prepare year-end reports, including W-2s and 1099s. Continuous improvement is a key aspect of this position, and you will assist in process enhancements and participate in payroll-related projects and initiatives. Staying informed about industry trends and best practices will be vital to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a PEO or multi-client environment
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
