About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for compiling and recording employee time and payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records. This role involves computing and posting wages and deductions, preparing paychecks for craft employees, and ensuring effective communication with project team members and HR.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and record employee time and payroll data.
  • Accurately compute and post wages and deductions.
  • Prepare paychecks for craft employees.
  • Process weekly payroll for craft employees.
  • Import/export hours from timecard systems.
  • Enter non-recurring earnings elements such as retention bonuses.
  • Reconcile and submit payments for employee reductions, withholding, and employer liabilities.
  • Remit direct deposit files to the bank and activate pay cards for employees not participating in direct deposit.
  • Cost payroll and reconcile gross to net reports with system-generated journal entries.
  • Reconcile gross to net reports with periodic/quarterly ADP reports.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and communicate effectively with project team members and HR.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Payroll experience preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle or other large software vendors preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High math aptitude.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to ensure high level of accuracy and absolute confidentiality.
