About the position

The Payroll Specialist at McLane Company is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing for assigned divisions. This role involves verifying payroll interfaces, producing off-cycle checks, and providing training and documentation for payroll clerks. Responsibilities

• Ensure payroll is processed correctly for assigned divisions.
• Verify all payroll interfaces are balanced for each payroll cycle.
• Produce off-cycle checks as required.
• Provide documentation and training for accounting payroll clerks and driver payroll clerks.
• Balance and validate payroll for each assigned division for each payroll cycle.
• Establish and process routine divisional and global data audits.
• Setup and maintain garnishment orders for wage assignments from federal, state, and local entities.
• Serve as backup payroll clerk for unexpected personnel outages.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years payroll/accounting experience.
• 2 or more years of PeopleSoft or Workday experience preferred.
• Fundamental knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Working knowledge of wage and employment laws.
• Ability to prioritize and delegate when necessary.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and solve various problems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll and Time & Attendance systems.
• Experience in training payroll clerks.
