About the position

The Payroll Specialist position at Tolleson Union High School District is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of payroll and payroll-related information. This role involves generating payroll checks in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements, maintaining confidential employee records, and providing support to department activities. Responsibilities

  • Compile statistical and payroll data from various sources for summaries and compliance.
  • Inform staff and outside parties about procedural and program requirements for payroll administration.
  • Input data for new hires and current employees using various software systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain payroll information, files, and records to ensure documentation availability and compliance.
  • Monitor payroll activities and components to ensure compliance with financial, legal, and administrative requirements.
  • Participate in meetings and training for information gathering and job function performance.
  • Prepare written materials and electronic payroll information for documentation and compliance purposes.
  • Process payroll-related data for timely payment and check generation.
  • Reconcile payroll account balances to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Research discrepancies in payroll information to ensure accuracy before processing.
  • Resolve discrepancies with payroll and benefit information to ensure record accuracy.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding payroll procedures and provide necessary information.
  • Support the Payroll Accounting Manager in completing payroll operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess and maintain a Department of Public Safety (DPS) Identity Verified Print (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty and staff.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of materials and information.
  • Excellent telephone skills.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
