About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Catholic Health is responsible for processing payroll to ensure timely and accurate payment of wages for designated facilities. This role requires advanced payroll knowledge, adherence to policies, and collaboration with HR to address payroll-related inquiries. The specialist will manage federal and state tax payments, quarterly returns, and W-2 processing, while also reconciling payroll deductions and adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for designated facilities to ensure timely and accurate payment of wages.
• Apply advanced payroll knowledge to meet strict deadlines.
• Maintain working knowledge of Catholic Health pay practices, benefits, and wage guidelines.
• Process federal and state tax payments, quarterly payroll tax returns, and W-2s.
• Serve as a liaison for payroll matters between management and associates.
• Field questions regarding payroll from the Human Resources Service Center.
• Reconcile payroll deductions and adjustments, including Disability and Worker's Compensation.
• Set up Positive Pay, IVR Profile, and Percent Allocation as needed.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field required, or five years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• A minimum of two to four years of payroll experience required, preferably within a healthcare system.
• Experience managing in-house payroll function preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable current Federal and New York State wage and hour laws and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills.
• Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word applications.
• Kronos Time and Attendance System experience preferred.
• Experience operating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems preferred.
• Ability to plan and manage multiple projects effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, customer service, and organizational skills.

• Experience with Lawson Payroll system.
• Experience in a healthcare system.
