About the position

The Payroll Specialist/HR Administrator is responsible for managing payroll processing for over 1,000 employees, ensuring accuracy in payroll deductions, and serving as the primary contact for payroll-related inquiries. This role also involves supporting HR functions, maintaining employee records, and assisting with various administrative tasks within the HR department.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll on a bi-weekly basis for over 1,000 employees.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of approved time sheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other payroll deductions.
  • Act as the point of contact for employees and payroll provider for all questions.
  • Calculate and process monthly bonus cycles for restaurant management.
  • Review PTO/Sick requests and ensure accuracy.
  • Create accruals for PTO/Sick and reconcile balances quarterly.
  • Monitor benefit premium billings monthly and reconcile to payroll deductions.
  • Assist in coordination and review of quarterly and year-end filings processing: 940, 941, W-2s.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion for all payroll items.
  • Reconcile each payroll period to identify variances prior to payment.
  • Quickly process any corrections as needed.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of HR functions and duties.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to HR executives.
  • Compile and update employee records (hard and soft copies).
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Business/Financial area preferred, or 4+ years related business experience.
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Excel and Word; SAGE/MAS experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience with payroll processing is required; Paylocity platform experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task under pressure.
  • Familiarity with ATS software and resume databases.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Previous experience in the restaurant industry is a plus.
