About the position

The Payroll Specialist/HR Assistant at Bobcat of Buffalo will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for over 90 employees, maintaining payroll records, and assisting with various HR tasks. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems and accounting principles, along with excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process weekly payrolls for 90+ employees.
  • Import time and attendance transactions for Paychex/Paylocity payroll processing.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Pay employees accurately and timely in accordance with State and Federal Law and company policies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of wage and tax laws.
  • Enter and maintain employee deductions such as wage garnishments, child support deductions, health insurance, and 401(k).
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll reports/documentation for payroll audits as requested by management.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and prepare onboarding materials.
  • Facilitate employee offboarding in compliance with local and state laws.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personal information and performance evaluations.
  • Assist in posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and preparing offer letters.
  • Record weekly payroll in accounting software accurately and timely.
  • Assist outsource HR company with HR inquiries and benefit enrollments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in payroll processing and familiarity with accounting software.
  • Proficient in data entry with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience using payroll systems such as Paylocity and Paychex is highly desirable.
  • Ability to analyze data effectively and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A degree in Business Management or related field is preferred but not required.
