About the position

The Payroll Specialist II position at the Texas Workforce Commission involves performing moderately complex payroll processing tasks under moderate supervision. Responsibilities

  • Process and review personnel action forms for accuracy and calculate payments.
  • Verify automated and manual employee payrolls for compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Enter, update, and retrieve information from various payroll systems.
  • Maintain payroll processing controls and assist with deductions, garnishments, and direct deposits.
  • Handle routine time and labor maintenance and payroll tasks.
  • Prepare written desk procedures on payroll system changes as needed.
  • Distribute paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
  • Answer questions and resolve payroll and tax-related issues.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time experience in payroll processing work.
  • Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • 18 to 24 months experience with auditing and administrative duties.
  • 18 to 24 months experience using accounting or payroll software.
  • 18 to 24 months experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • 18 to 24 months experience handling confidential data.
  • 18 to 24 months experience providing customer service.
