About the position

Asure is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our operations team at our Cherry Hill, NJ location. In this role, you will serve as the expert resource for a dedicated group of clients, playing a critical role in managing their payroll needs. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining employee payroll records, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, and delivering exceptional service to our clients. Your expertise will help Asure Software maintain its reputation as a leader in the payroll industry.

Responsibilities

  • Enter and maintain employee related information in the payroll system, including personnel changes, wage adjustments, garnishments, tax withholding changes, and direct deposits.
  • Administer all payrolls within an assigned portfolio of customers, ensuring timely and accurate processing in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Process various payroll scenarios including weekly, semi-monthly, and custom calendars for hourly, salary, and commission employees.
  • Produce preliminary payroll reports and verify accuracy against time sheets and other payroll data.
  • Verify time and attendance records, wage computation, and pay adjustments, posting information into appropriate records.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, serving as a trusted source for payroll processing support.
  • Respond to customer inquiries via telephone and email, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements.
  • Conduct quality control and auditing to ensure accuracy and low error rates.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes, including ACA activities and W2 verifications.
  • Conduct training sessions with customers on system functions and regulatory changes.
  • Manage updates to customer leave plans and ancillary products like benefits and 401(k) plans.
  • Proactively problem-solve payroll and tax law inquiries as needed.
  • Mentor and assist in the growth development of payroll specialists.
  • Interpret payroll publications to resolve payroll and tax law inquiries.
  • Maintain knowledge of payroll processing system features and wage/tax law changes.
  • Build and update Payroll procedures manual to document processes.

Requirements

  • CPP certification or 5+ years of automated payroll experience.
  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, or business, or equivalent work experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous payroll processing experience in a client-facing environment, such as a Service Bureau Organization (SBO).
  • Direct experience with various SaaS payroll systems and ability to learn new ones.
  • Project management skills to navigate through various tasks.
  • Professional presentation of written information for client success.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to deliver outstanding service to clients and teammates.
  • Polished verbal and written communication skills.
