About the position

The Payroll Specialist I at Worldwide Flight Services, Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and on time, in compliance with all relevant government regulations. This position is integral to the Payroll Management team, which is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of payroll processing. The specialist will work closely with the Time and Attendance Coordinator to review employee hours for payroll uploads, addressing any inaccuracies that may arise. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. In addition to processing payroll for both hourly and salaried employees, the Payroll Specialist I will be responsible for reviewing pay discrepancies and providing resolutions. The specialist will handle employee pay inquiries promptly and ensure that payroll updates, such as new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates, are processed accurately and in a timely manner. Compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws is paramount, and the specialist will be expected to stay informed about best practices in payroll management. This position is ideal for individuals with three to five years of related payroll experience who possess extensive knowledge of payroll functions. The role demands excellent organizational skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to handle confidential information with discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software, particularly ADP and SAP, is also required. The Payroll Specialist I will work in an office environment, utilizing standard office equipment and maintaining regular attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review employee hours for payroll uploads in collaboration with the Time and Attendance Coordinator and resolve inaccuracies.
  • Process payroll for hourly and salary employees, ensuring accuracy and facilitating corrections as needed.
  • Review pay discrepancies and provide resolutions.
  • Handle employee pay inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of related payroll experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • FPC designation desirable.
