About the position

The Payroll Specialist II at Andersen Construction is responsible for supporting the Payroll Department in the administration and processing of payroll and financial benefits for the company and its subsidiaries. This role requires a strong background in payroll processing and accounting principles, ensuring compliance with union regulations and multi-state payroll policies.

Responsibilities

  • Aids in the administration of company payroll and financial benefits.
  • Assists in monitoring and processing union payroll regulations and labor adjustments.
  • Reviews time sheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies for a high volume of employees.
  • Computes wages and deductions and makes manual adjustments as necessary.
  • Processes and issues employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
  • Processes employees' re-rates and retro adjustments.
  • Ensures job cost transfers are accurate, and fixes entries as necessary.
  • Assists Payroll Manager in preparing a variety of reports (i.e. union benefits and payments, quarterly tax reports, annual W2 reports, etc.).
  • Schedules tax payments.
  • Assists Payroll Manager in providing documentation necessary for payroll audits.
  • Maintains union information as needed.
  • Communicates with employees, as needed, to ensure timely wage payment.
  • Ensures timecard records are kept in compliance with current established standards.
  • Assists in responding to payroll related inquiries and correspondence, including compiling information requests related to payroll process through reports and spreadsheets.
  • Assists Employee Development and Risk Management Departments with on-boarding activities.
  • Completes employee verifications.
  • Maintains employee data to ensure it is updated and properly stored.
  • Answers and/or re-directs questions on incoming phone lines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years' experience with in-house payroll processing, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Working knowledge of job costing is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook).
  • Proficiency in Oracle based systems and other electronic data programs which may be utilized by the company.
  • Working knowledge of union pay requirements and multi-state payroll policies.
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and scanning machines.
