About the position

The Payroll Specialist II position at Outworx Corporation involves managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in payroll calculations, and addressing employee inquiries regarding their paychecks. The role requires proficiency in payroll systems such as PeopleSoft and Kronos, as well as experience with timecards and garnishments. The specialist will work closely with the Payroll Analyst and Accounting team to maintain compliance with payroll guidelines and handle confidential information securely.

Responsibilities

  • Performs online edits and corrections to the payroll system PeopleSoft.
  • Communicates with programmers and is involved in testing of pay issues.
  • Calculates special check requests and audits requests by departments and HR.
  • Processes internal adjustments for employees by analyzing past payroll information.
  • Performs detailed corrections of exception time report edits in PeopleSoft.
  • Reviews and validates Kronos schedules and timekeeping duties.
  • Contacts department supervisors for timecard discrepancies.
  • Answers complex questions from employees and management regarding paychecks.
  • Processes garnishment checks and prepares legal statements for requestors.
  • Prepares stop payment and voided checks in a timely manner.
  • Processes deductions from employee paychecks such as union dues and vendor sales.
  • Calculates incorrect payments and processes necessary adjustments.
  • Interprets and applies proper codes, rules, and regulations related to payroll transactions.
  • Works closely with Payroll Analyst and Accounting team for proper allocations to the general ledger.
  • Ensures confidential information is handled securely and maintained according to company guidelines.
  • Corrects 'no-time' edits for employees listed as active but show no time recorded.
  • Meets deadlines and works under pressure, available for overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • At least two (2) years of related payroll experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of PeopleSoft and Kronos systems for payroll and timekeeping.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Tact and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain documents and records.
  • Ability to manage self and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Must be able to multi-task and execute multiple assignments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Payroll certification (FPC or CPP) preferred.
  • Previous hospital experience highly desirable.
  • Experience as an analyst preferred.
  • Experience with union contracts and garnishment preferred.
