About the position

As a Payroll Specialist II at City National Bank, you will play a crucial role in managing payroll processes for the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include processing new hires, changes, terminations, and leave of absence requests in the computerized HRIS system, utilizing a variety of source documents. You will be responsible for the preparation and calculation of manual checks, as well as calculating and processing timekeeping adjustments. Your role will also involve auditing and balancing various payroll transactions, sorting and distributing checks and reports, and preparing and auditing all payroll import files prior to finalization. Additionally, you will process special pays in accordance with company policies and current tax laws, which may include commissions, bonuses, deferred compensation, stock transactions, and severance payments. You will maintain the electronic timekeeping system, ensuring accuracy and timely updates for employee changes. Your responsibilities will extend to preparing, balancing, and reporting on multiple worksite reports, as well as processing all system interfaces, both incoming and outgoing. You will serve as a point of contact for managers and colleagues regarding payroll-related inquiries and will act as a backup for the Payroll Supervisor when necessary. In this role, you will perform complex pay calculations and ensure the accuracy of payroll input and output. Effective written and verbal communication with managers, employees, and department staff will be essential. You will work with minimal supervision, requiring independent thought and initiative, and will be recognized as the go-to person in the absence of the Payroll Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of payroll processing experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of payroll processing experience for 1,000 or more employees.
  • Minimum 5 years using HRIS and timekeeping systems (e.g. ADP, Peoplesoft, Ceridian, Kronos).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
