About the position

The Payroll Specialist II will oversee payroll administrative processes for multiple worksites within PCSI, ensuring accurate payroll data management and compliance with regulations. This mid-level role requires experience in multi-state and union payroll, with a focus on maintaining updated records in the UKG payroll system and providing support for corporate departments and employee inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of Payroll Administrative Services including payroll processing for new hires, transfers, relocations, terminations, and changes to employment conditions.
  • Identify inefficiencies in processes and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure payroll systems are updated to reflect current employee data, including wages and benefits.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with HR, Finance, IT, and Legal teams to ensure compliance with business and legislative requirements.
  • Review, analyze, and reconcile payroll data according to established timelines and standards.
  • Provide payroll processing support, including overpayment recouping and manual payroll inputs.
  • Assist with year-end processes including reconciliations and W-2 processing.
  • Stay updated on HR & Payroll Services developments and evaluate best practices for PCSI requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations.
  • Assist Payroll Manager in annual audit of financials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent college experience preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of multi-state union and non-union payroll processing experience.
  • Firm understanding of payroll and payroll systems.
  • Experience with UKG payroll processing preferred.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
  • Knowledge of PC functions and operation of Windows applications, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to interpret policies and regulations.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work as a team member and self-starter.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS platforms other than UKG.
  • Additional payroll certifications or training.
