About the position

Miller Pipeline is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in New Berlin, WI. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of payroll processing for our workforce, which consists of over 3,500 skilled employees across 20 states. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for performing analytical duties, auditing accounts, and facilitating various payroll wage verifications. You will also process documentation and maintain payroll files, ensuring that all payroll-related activities are conducted with high attention to detail and professionalism. In this position, you will review time sheets, wage computations, and other relevant information to detect and reconcile discrepancies. You will assist in managing multi-state payroll for both union and non-union employees, collaborating with internal teams, third-party processors, and unions to ensure that all pay information is accurately recorded and calculated for each payroll cycle. Your ability to manage multiple transactions and stay organized will be essential in completing each task efficiently. Additionally, you will compile employee time sheets and payroll data, including garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and 401(k) deductions. Maintaining and updating payroll records by recording employee information such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations will also be part of your responsibilities. You will keep track of leave time for employees and assist with union-related tasks, including monthly remittance reports and audits. Your role will also involve processing garnishments and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review time sheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Assist in multi-state payroll for union employees and non-union support staff and managers.
  • Partner with internal team and third-party processors, and unions to ensure complete pay information is properly recorded and accurately calculated for each payroll cycle.
  • Manage the delivery of key payroll projects, collaborating with team members to develop recommendations.
  • Compile employee time sheets and payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and 401(k) deductions.
  • Record employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations to maintain and update payroll records.
  • Keep track of leave time, such as vacation and personal time for employees.
  • Prepare union monthly remittance reports, maintain monthly dues and initiation fees, and assist with union audits.
  • Process new garnishment orders and maintain current orders, ensuring compliance with garnishment priorities.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' payroll and/or accounting-related experience in a fast-paced, multi-state organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and ability to learn other programs and web portals for effective use.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in accounting, finance, business management or related field.
