About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Reliant Realty Services, LLC is responsible for administering payroll processes, including the timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees. This role involves maintaining employee records, managing union benefits, and addressing payroll inquiries, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. The position operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring three days in the office and two days working from home.

Responsibilities

  • Process multiple weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for exempt and non-exempt and union and non-union employees.
  • Maintain knowledge of tax rules and regulations governing payroll administration practices.
  • Assist in filing paperwork necessary for state and local ID for state filing and unemployment tax.
  • Enter and post journal entries to reconcile all payroll accounts.
  • Set up, process, and maintain changes to employee deductions such as direct deposits and benefits.
  • Reconcile and calculate payroll adjustments, issue checks, and process manual checks as needed.
  • Assist department managers and staff by answering payroll procedural questions and resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Monitor the department email inbox to provide timely responses to inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to administer attendance, time reporting, benefits, and payroll policies.
  • Audit documentation of new hires processed by Human Resources.
  • Administer annual increases and year-end bonuses.
  • Update pay rates based on collective bargaining agreements.
  • Assist with administrative record-keeping and special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • At least 2 years' experience processing payroll.
  • Understanding of payroll fundamentals, tax laws, and benefits.
  • Multistate payroll experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Yardi software preferred.
  • Ceridian/Dayforce software experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act and other state and city laws.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently.
  • Experience with union contracts highly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
