About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Amedisys is responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and wage laws, and addressing payroll-related inquiries. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate payroll records and supporting the overall financial operations of the company, which is one of the largest home health and hospice providers in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Reviews payroll edits and makes online corrections as necessary.
• Ensures compliance with company policy as well as wage and hour laws.
• Answers calls from the employee hotline.
• Prepares ad-hoc manual checks.
• Prepares and maintains accurate records.
• Addresses payroll-related issues using sound analytical, reasoning and judgment skills.
• Reports recurrent payroll discrepancies to the manager for root cause analysis and resolution.
• Participates in external payroll-related audits and requests for information.
• Conducts audits, analyzes results, investigates problems and resolves discrepancies as appropriate.
• Prepares, analyzes, and distributes periodic payroll reports using established policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two years' experience processing high-volume payroll.
• Computer literate and highly proficient in using MS office programs (Excel and Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience processing multi-frequency and multi-state payrolls.
• CPP (certified payroll professional) or FPC (fundamental payroll certification).
• PeopleSoft application experience, version 9.1 or higher.
