Franklin College is seeking a dedicated part-time Payroll Specialist to manage the College's payroll functions effectively. This role is crucial in ensuring that all aspects of the monthly and bi-weekly payroll processes are completed accurately and on time. The Payroll Specialist will also handle additional compensation requests from management, ensuring that all paperwork for check requests is completed and that special checks are issued as authorized. This position will work closely with the Human Resources department, providing support in record keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry and analysis. The Payroll Specialist will work no more than 29 hours per week, making this an ideal position for someone looking for part-time employment while still contributing significantly to the College's operations. The responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist include verifying, editing, and distributing payroll reports as needed. The successful candidate will be expected to process payrolls without errors, maintain payroll files and various financial documents, and process TIAA-CREF retirement entries. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will assist the HR & Comp Administrator and other management members with compensation-related issues or questions. This role requires close collaboration with the HR & Comp Administrator to ensure the accuracy of all benefit and payroll deductions, and the Payroll Specialist will serve as a backup for student payroll processing as needed. Adherence to safety rules and regulations is essential, as is maintaining a working knowledge of federal and state legislation affecting payroll operations. The position demands a high level of discretion and professional judgment, as the Payroll Specialist will be handling confidential financial information. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality is mandatory, and the role requires prioritizing tasks from multiple departments while balancing essential functions.
