About the position

The Payroll Specialist at OneDigital is responsible for executing accurate payroll processing, compliance audits, and process improvement. This role involves managing multi-state payroll activities, ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws, and providing exceptional customer service to employees. The Payroll Specialist will also play a crucial role in system conversions and implementations related to payroll and time and attendance, contributing expertise in tax audit processes and payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multi-state payroll and related activities including computation of wage and overtime payments.
  • Calculate and record payroll deductions, paycheck advances, bonus runs, commissions, and fringe benefit reporting.
  • Oversee payroll processing, tax setup and compliance, payroll configuration within HRIS, reporting, and compliance auditing.
  • Coordinate 401(k) contribution/HSA submission processes by inputting accurate data into vendor portals.
  • Audit and review benefit deductions, reconciling against election and enrollment information.
  • Prepare manual payments when required and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Review timesheets and time off requests, addressing any discrepancies.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly audits (401k, benefits, payroll, etc.).
  • Assist with generalist responsibilities (benefits admin, onboarding, offboarding) when coverage is needed.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of payroll experience in a dedicated payroll function with multiple states/jurisdictions.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of payroll processing, taxes, compliance, and auditing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and diagnose problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, PayChex, Paycom, Paylocity, Paycor, and Kronos.
  • Experience in providing quality customer service.
