About the position

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing multi-company payrolls, ensuring data accuracy, and meeting payroll deadlines. This role involves collaboration with various departments, particularly the HR team, to streamline payroll processes and resolve any payroll-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Process multi-company payrolls, including data import and validation.
  • Resolve payroll issues and respond to queries in a timely manner.
  • Partner with Operations Support team regarding timekeeping and payroll exports.
  • Review export files from timekeeping systems for accuracy before uploading into Paylocity.
  • Assist with garnishments tracking and validation within Paylocity.
  • Assist with tax setup and discrepancies at the employee and company level.
  • Validate new hires, terminations, and employee changes in Paylocity.
  • Partner with HR team regarding employee setup and changes after validation.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Create and run payroll reports as needed.
  • Assist with payroll audits and year-end W2 reporting.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of timekeeping requirements in various states.
  • Ability to audit payroll files.
  • Proficient in data entry into databases and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Process improvement mindset and ability to embrace change.
  • Analytical thinker with a solution-driven approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high multi-tasking demands.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; knowledge of Paylocity is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of payroll tax requirements.
