Our client has an immediate opening for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join their Santa Clara team. This position is a full-time contract role with the opportunity to convert based on performance. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for preparing and submitting paper payroll checks for employees, ensuring that all payroll transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled. This role requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The Payroll Specialist will also collect banking information for direct deposit setup and initiate deposits on paydays, ensuring that employees receive their wages in a timely manner. In addition to processing payroll, the Payroll Specialist will reconcile the general ledger regarding payroll transactions and record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records. Addressing and resolving employee complaints relating to the payroll system is also a critical part of this role, requiring strong communication skills and a customer service-oriented approach. The Payroll Specialist will prepare reports to relevant departments about payroll, company budget, and expenses, and must have a solid understanding of the taxation of salaries, benefits, and other factors to ensure compliance with regulations.
