About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and delivery of payroll for the organization. This role involves managing tax withholding compliance, deduction management, and ensuring accurate payroll recording. The specialist will also provide support for payroll inquiries, perform payroll analysis, and collaborate with various teams to improve payroll processes and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and delivery of the organization's payroll.
  • Ensure appropriate withholding of federal, state, and local income taxes, collaborating with the Payroll Tax team.
  • Manage voluntary and involuntary deductions throughout the payroll life cycle.
  • Respond to all inquiries related to payroll and payroll systems.
  • Ensure complete pay information is properly recorded and accurately calculated for each payroll cycle.
  • Review payroll reports to identify potential problems and resolve discrepancies with business units.
  • Perform quality assurance on payroll reports and take appropriate action for any discrepancies.
  • Provide ongoing support through day-to-day activities and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and execute all activities related to year-end bonus payments and other year-end activities.
  • Provide support for issues that arise and help plan for problem resolution.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement changes to processes for greater efficiency in payroll operations.
  • Collaborate with the Contact Center leadership team regarding payroll processing activities.
  • Assist with vendor enhancements and program changes to upgrade the payroll system as necessary.
  • Perform analysis, research, problem resolution, and administration of payroll processes.
  • Provide payroll reports and other information as needed or requested.
  • Adhere to and complete all activities related to SOX and internal control compliance.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Degree in a business-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in payroll processing and associated activities.
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll policies, procedures, and systems for payroll/tax reporting.
  • Creative analytical and problem-solving skills in a payroll environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Customer-focused, self-driven, results-oriented individual with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred knowledge of ADP GlobalView / ADP PCPW payroll systems and Workday HCM and Payroll systems.
