About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Northwest Hardwoods (NWH) is responsible for managing the day-to-day payroll operations and assisting with HRIS responsibilities. This role involves close collaboration with a third-party administrator to ensure accurate payroll processing and data management, contributing to data-driven decision-making within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain periodic reports of employee record data, develop new reports, and create on-demand ad hoc reports.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, working in conjunction with staff members and TPA.
  • Field payroll related questions from NWH Team Members and assist them where needed.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update employee data for the HR information system.
  • Work closely with the HR team to administer and support all HR system technologies and enhancements that improve HR operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist with projects such as data and workflow management, performance, and compensation administration, learning management design, and training.
  • Act as a liaison between Human Resources, Information Technology, Benefits, and Payroll to support HR projects.
  • Ensure tax reports are filed timely and accurately by TPA.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in HR, IT or related field
  • 3 years' experience processing payroll for a mid to large sized organization
  • 3 years' experience with UltiPro or other HR Enterprise system
  • Advanced MS Excel skills

  • Bi Cognos Reporting Experience
