Group Management Services (GMS) is seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join our team in Richfield, OH. As a Professional Employer Organization (PEO), GMS alleviates the burden of HR administration for our clients by offering comprehensive services that include payroll processing, benefits management, risk management, and employee relations support. In the role of Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining a base of payroll clients and ensuring the accurate processing of payroll data. This includes keying in all necessary payroll-related information to meet scheduled deadlines, contacting clients to gather payroll data such as salary adjustments, special payments, tax allocations, and employee deductions. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a high rate of client retention through quality service and effective communication. Staying current with payroll processing systems and updates, as well as changes in wage tax and garnishment laws, is essential to your success in this position. Your responsibilities will also include listening to client concerns, researching issues, and providing timely resolutions. You will be tasked with generating special reports for clients, verifying and sending out garnishment payments, and responding to employment and wage verification requests. Additionally, you will maintain accurate records of tax documents and new hire information using our scanning system. This position requires a proactive approach to establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with clients, agencies, and peers to promote a quality service image. Responsibilities

  • Maintain a base of payroll clients.
  • Accurately key all payroll related data necessary to process and meet appointed schedules.
  • Contact and assist clients to obtain payroll data including salary adjustments, special payments, tax allocations, employee deductions, new hires, terminations, direct deposits, employee benefits, and UPS delivery tracking.
  • Maintain a high rate of client retention through quality service.
  • Stay current with knowledge of payroll processing system and updates to the system, as well as changes in wage tax and garnishment laws.
  • Listen effectively to client's concerns, researching problems/complaints in a timely manner, adjusting errors where possible.
  • Provide special reports to clients in a timely manner.
  • Report difficult issues to the appropriate member of management tracking progress of resolution and following up when needed.
  • Establish and maintain a harmonious working relationship with clients, agencies, and peers to promote a quality service image.
  • Verify and send out garnishment payments in a timely fashion.
  • Respond to employment and wage verification requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate record of all tax documents and pertinent new hire and adjustment information utilizing our scanning system.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 2 years related office experience required; or equivalent combination of experience and education; customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
