About the position

We are providing a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Banning, California. The role primarily involves managing the payroll process, maintaining accurate employee records, and managing timekeeping systems. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting and examining employee and timekeeping data to ensure accuracy, keeping payroll records up to date, and preparing and executing payroll in a timely manner. You will issue employee payments while taking into account deductions and withholdings, and respond to all payroll-related inquiries, resolving any arising concerns. In addition to these core responsibilities, you will undertake various administrative duties such as filing, scanning, and emailing as required. Ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices is crucial. You will also facilitate audits by providing necessary records and documentation to auditors and assist in the preparation of reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information. The role requires managing a bi-weekly payroll system for a large number of employees using the Kronos Timekeeping System.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Accounting Functions is essential.
  • Experience in Auditing is necessary for this role.
  • Familiarity with Benefit Functions is a key requirement.
  • Ability to handle Full Cycle Payroll is a must.
  • Must be well-versed in Payroll Taxes.
  • Experience with Kronos Timekeeping System is desired.
