About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for over 350 employees, while staying updated on relevant policies and procedures. This role involves managing various payroll functions, including audits, data entry, and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Responsibilities

  • Process end to end payroll accurately, timely, and in accordance to Federal, State, and Local laws for salaried and hourly employees
  • Review and audit all data entries/changes on the employees records for accuracy including, but not limited to, new hires, terminations, pay changes, direct deposit, and tax elections
  • Process, review, and balance payroll batch information which includes time clock entries, bonus entries, and other compensation variable pay entries
  • Calculate and processes short term disability payments for employees on leave of absence
  • Administer all employee wage attachments (e.g., child supports, garnishments, tax levies) timely and accurately according to various state guidelines
  • Perform various payroll audits to ensure payroll is balanced and accurate
  • Post payroll to accounting for each cycle
  • Submit electronic child support payments once audited and balanced
  • Create and distribute payroll reports as needed
  • Research and resolve all payroll requests or inquiries
  • Communicate with various personnel through written and verbal methods to facilitate strong working relationships
  • Plan and organize workload around multiple assignments to manage deadlines and deliver achievement of assigned goals and objectives
  • Serve as backup for other payroll administrators
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Three (3) years of experience in a multi-jurisdictional payroll environment
  • Professional Payroll Certification - FPC or CPP preferred
  • UKG software experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated functional knowledge of payroll concepts, compliances, practices, and procedures
