About the position

Consolidated Supply Co., a family-owned and operated plumbing, hydronic heating, and water works wholesale distributor since 1928, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our corporate headquarters in Tigard, OR. With 21 locations and over 550 employees, we pride ourselves on our commitment to customer service and enhancing the lives of Northwest families. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in managing our time and attendance system and will be responsible for preparing and processing a multi-state biweekly payroll in compliance with company policies as well as Federal and State regulations. In this position, the Payroll Specialist will audit employee time records across the company, collaborating with remote locations to resolve any discrepancies. The role involves processing employee additions and changes in the payroll system, including earnings, deductions, and benefit accruals. The Payroll Specialist will also prepare and upload payroll-related batch entries for biweekly payroll, ensuring accuracy through thorough audits. Additionally, the specialist will calculate manual payroll for terminations, special payments, and garnishments as required, and provide backup support for the Payroll and Benefits Administrator. Assisting with year-end processes and addressing employee and management inquiries related to time and pay will also be key responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in timekeeping and payroll processing, with multistate payroll experience preferred. Familiarity with automated payroll and time & attendance systems such as UKG and ADP is essential. A high attention to detail, proficiency in Excel, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are critical for success in this role. Clear verbal and written communication skills are necessary, and candidates should be positive and enthusiastic team members.

Responsibilities

  • Audit employee time records companywide, working with remote locations to resolve issues.
  • Process employee additions and changes in the payroll system including earnings, deductions and benefit accruals.
  • Prepare and upload payroll related batch entries for biweekly payroll.
  • Audit payroll for accuracy.
  • Calculate manual payroll for terminations, special payments and garnishments as required.
  • Provide back-up payroll support for the Payroll and Benefits Administrator.
  • Assist the Payroll and Benefits Administrator with year-end processes.
  • Answer employee and management questions related to time and/or pay.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience with timekeeping and payroll processing.
  • Multistate payroll processing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of automated payroll and time & attendance systems such as UKG and ADP.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with Excel and data entry.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
