About the position

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing the payroll process for the State of Georgia, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. This role involves processing payroll data, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with HR and finance departments to resolve any payroll discrepancies and provide support for payroll-related inquiries from employees. They will ensure that all payroll transactions are processed in a timely manner and that all deductions, such as taxes and benefits, are accurately calculated. The specialist will also be involved in the implementation of new payroll software and systems, providing training and support to staff as needed. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining employee satisfaction by ensuring that payroll is processed smoothly and efficiently. They will also be responsible for staying up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations, making recommendations for improvements to payroll processes, and participating in ongoing training and development opportunities.

Responsibilities
