About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate processing and recording of the company's payroll on a day-to-day basis. This role involves providing timely financial information, maintaining detailed records, and ensuring compliance with internal controls surrounding payroll. The Payroll Specialist will also support the Human Resources Office and assist in various payroll-related tasks, including year-end activities and training for end-users of payroll systems.

Responsibilities

  • Process and record payroll accurately on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a detailed database of all Team Members in the department.
  • Provide administrative support for the efficient operation of the Human Resources Office.
  • Safeguard company assets by adhering to internal controls surrounding payroll.
  • Prepare payroll records according to departmental and company procedures.
  • Ensure payroll is processed for actual hours worked at the appropriate pay rate.
  • Maintain Team Member records in computer systems.
  • Communicate effectively with Team Members and educate supervisors on payroll processes.
  • Assist in research of Team Member payroll checks and provide reconciliation services for inquiries.
  • Process Friend of the Court Orders and Garnishments to Tribal Court.
  • Oversee processing and printing of payroll checks biweekly.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts to the general ledger, including payroll deductions.
  • Maintain payroll records according to retention policies and procedures.
  • Process and send payroll data to ADP as required.
  • Ensure accuracy and timely processing of W-2s during year-end activities.
  • Provide reports for Human Resources, Accounting, and other departments as required.
  • Provide training to end-users of ADP and ensure supervisors audit payroll records.
  • Present payroll information to new hires during orientation.
  • Support Payroll Manager on implementations, audits, and creating new items within ADP Workforce Now.

Requirements

  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • FPC or PPC certification preferred.
  • Five (5) years of payroll processing experience for a property with at least 750 Team Members.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in written and verbal forms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and timekeeping required.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills; detail-oriented, innovative, flexible, and task-oriented.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment under short time constraints.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Wage and Hour Laws.
