About the position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to manage payroll functions for both salaried employees and 1099 contractors. The ideal candidate will be proficient in QuickBooks and skilled in Excel, ensuring accurate payroll processing and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process payroll on a bi-weekly basis for both salaried employees and 1099 contractors using QuickBooks and Paychex.
- Enter payroll data, verify timesheets, and ensure all employee data is up-to-date and accurate.
- Generate payroll reports, reconcile payroll accounts, and assist with month-end close activities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax filings and reporting requirements.
- Manage employee deductions and benefits contributions, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary deductions.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze payroll data, create custom reports, and identify trends or discrepancies.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, tax questions, and other related concerns.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience, with a focus on handling both W-2 and 1099 employees.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Attention to detail.
